Background
Sengoku Kiyosumi was born a mutant, but that wasn't very apparent until he was a toddler. "Weeds" were starting to grow from his temples, wrists, and ankles, and since children his age were prone to little scrapes and bruises, his parents noticed he was starting to bleed dark greenish blood. Unnerved that their son was definitely a mutant, they desperately did what they could to normalize him; they cut and pulled out the "weeds" despite the fact that it hurt him, and bandaged the affected areas as if that would stop the growth, placing a hat over his head to hide the bandages. However, the vines would always grow back, poking through, and that only meant more painful pruning.
Despite the constant trimming, Sengoku made the best of everything; he was relatively well-liked at school and it seemed that no one really suspected he had a mutation. However, one day, at the persuasion of a little voice, he left it all: his parents, his friends, and those shears. Since then, he's had a bad case of wanderlust, never lingering in one place for too long before hitching a ride to another city or town.
Powers
Woody, leafy vines (specifically grape) grow from his temple, wrists, and ankles. When allowed to grow freely, the vines seem to form a sort of crown or wreath around Sengoku's head, while the ones that root at his wrists and ankles wrap and climb up his limbs.
The vines can bear fruit, though only when they are rooted to the ground; this means that he first needs to transplant a seed to soil. Once the seed has been planted, it will take at least a week for it to germinate and mature into an adult.
Sengoku's vines are sentient, and currently, the ones that grow on him have considerable influence over his actions-- when Sengoku was old enough, the vines persuaded him to leave his "abusive" parents as the prunings were just as painful to them, if not more so. They work in his best interests because if he dies, they die as well. However, the vines and Sengoku are slightly more than host and symbiote; they speak to each other as friends. The vines speak only to him telepathically, but they are able to understand others through Sengoku. His vines can also act on their own in case of danger or some similar situation where they wish to get his attention.
Sengoku thrives during the Spring and Summer, while he seems to slow down during the cooler months. During the winter, his leaves brown and he'll seem tired and stiff, his reflexes and reactions slower than usual. When he's feeling his worst, he may go into hibernation for possibly days at a time until he recovers.
In the future, if he works on it, the vines won't necessarily have such an impact on his thoughts and actions. The mental link will still be there, but the vines won't be able to subconsciously influence him like they did before.
Eventually, he'll also be able to actively control the vines, such as extending them to latch onto something, or to root himself to the ground.

※ He's about 5'10" (178 cm) and he's also pretty thin due to his lifestyle; he earns just enough to keep from starving while traveling.
※ He's been on the road for about 4 years.
※ He's uncomfortable with other people touching the vines growing on his body, especially the ones from his temples.
